LaGrange Engine Club Show Policies

DRIVING ON THE FAIR GROUNDS
Parents, please understand that you are responsible for all minors you bring to the show.  No one without a valid drivers license and insurance is permitted to operate any vehicle anywhere on the fairgrounds.  This means minors may not operate any type of vehicle without direct adult supervision.  You must be riding with them or in control at all times.  This includes mini bikes, garden tractors and any motorized vehicle. The police have been instructed to stop and detain anyone under age.  If you have a  golf cart or any type of riding vehicle please bring proof of insurance.  No skateboards, inline skates, scooters, ATV’s or bicycle riding..

RESERVED SPACES - No one is allowed to mark spaces or setup equipment before 5:00 pm Wednesday.
To maintain order and provide space for all, we would appreciate everyone following these rules:

  1. Anyone roping off areas before the show must clearly mark their site with their name and phone number. Doing this does not automatically ensure that the site will be yours. It merely provides the club with a way to attempt to contact you if they wish to move or resize the area you have marked off. The club has the right to resize or move any display, without notice.
  2. Individuals whose displays are made up of mostly items for sale will be charged a fee based on the area of the saleable part of their display. If you know ahead of time that your display fits into this category, you may receive a better rate by pre-registering with our flea market director prior to August 1st. Pre-registered sites are pre-assigned, thus assuring you a site large enough to meet your needs.
  3. Because of limited space in the engine area parallel parking to the roadway will be permitted in approved areas only. Also, due to space limitations, only engine exhibitors are allowed to camp in the engine area.  If you don’t have an exhibit you must camp in one of the designated camping areas.

Bottles and Stakes
Blue bottles of water and stakes with site numbers or names on them are used throughout the grounds to designate spaces. They are used in some areas to reserve space because they are easier to work with than the yellow caution tape. Please do not park in these areas unless they are reserved for you. We also ask that you look for the spray painted lines marking the corners of your space and park between the marks where your stake or bottle has been placed. Please move the stake or bottle before parking so we can use them again next year. It would be a big help if you would bring the bottles or stakes to the office after you occupy your space.

Gate Passes
To help reduce traffic congestion, entrance fees are now being collected at the ticket booths. Due to increased attendance, this procedure is likely to continue. To facilitate this process, everyone passing through the gates, including the one by the steam engines, will have to have a hand stamp, exhibitor pass, or current membership card.

Camping Policies
The camping fee as of 2009 remains at $10 per night. All campers must pay for each night their camper is parked at the fairgrounds. The LaGrange Engine Club has defined a camper as “any motor home, trailer, truck camper, or tent with a capacity for three or more people.” This means that the only people who do not have to pay to stay overnight are people sleeping in their car/truck or someone with a very small tent. The $10.00 per night fee will include electricity where available. There is no discount for spaces without electricity.

All campers must have the owner’s name, address, and a contact phone number attached to the camper when it is dropped off at the fairgrounds. Sometimes campers are left after the fair. If your camper is not identified in this manner, it may be thought a derelict and towed away.

After-Hour Disturbances
Camping on the grounds is something many people look for when choosing a show to attend. Having camping for a reasonable fee helps keep the cost of attending a show down and encourages families to camp together. Unfortunately, in the past, some people have acted inappropriately or have threatened the safety of others. For the safety of those staying at our show, security has been hired. Initially, security was only needed during show hours, but over the years, an increase in after-hour problems has necessitated security to patrol in the evening as well. This has become a major expense for the club.

While some offenders have been asked not to return to the show, problems still continue to occur. We hope that we will not have to begin a policy of no camping on the grounds during the show.  Therefore, we are asking for your help if you stay overnight. 1) If you see a problem or have a safety concern while security is on duty, contact them. Do not take matters into your own hands. 2) If security is not on the grounds or you cannot locate them, call the Wellington police department (we will try to list their phone number in the show program) or call 911 and ask for the Wellington police.

Admission
General admission is $3.00 (children under 12 are free with an adult).
All exhibitors are free of admission.  Exhibitor passes are available to all exhibitors.  You will need a pass if you want to go in and out without your display.  Passes will be needed to enter every day.

Use of Electricity
We collect $15.00 for using electricity if you are not paying to camp.  This charge covers the electrical usage for all 3 days. There will be no discount for only 1 or 2 days.

Membership
The LaGrange Engine Club is a non-profit 501c3 organization formed in 1970. It is dedicated to the restoration, preservation, and display of antique farm and industrial machinery and engines.
Meetings are held at 7:30 PM on the second Thursday of each month, with the exception of December, at the Lorain County Metro Parks Carlisle Visitor Center, 12882 Diagonal Road, LaGrange, Ohio.
Dues are collected annually at the show. A single membership is only $5.00. Membership applications may be filled out at the registration table in Building 23. Exhibitors need not be members, but tractor pullers must have a membership to pull.

Plaques and Buttons
Plaques will be given to the first 500 people who register.  Buttons are given to new or renewing members.  Due to the high demand, we can only give plaques to the first 500 exhibitors who register.

Tax Exempt
The IRS has classified the LaGrange Engine club as a 501c3 charitable organization.  This means that contributions to further the club activities are tax-exempt.
